In this video, you’ll see the intro scenes, demos, character bios, and two quick matches from Saturday Night Slam Masters — known in Japan as Muscle Bomber: The Body Explosion — a classic pro wrestling game released by Capcom on July 13, 1993, for arcades (CP System Dash). The quickplays feature Gunloc, who might be related to Guile from Street Fighter, and Mike Haggar — the brawling mayor straight out of Final Fight.
The game blends the vibe of pro wrestling with elements from Street Fighter II and Final Fight, combining competitive fighting mechanics with beat ’em up action. It features charismatic characters, flashy special moves, and a lot of over-the-top action in the ring. Several wrestlers are connected to other Capcom franchises, enriching the company’s shared universe. A big highlight is that the game’s character designs were done by Tetsuo Hara, from Hokuto no Ken.
It was also released for the Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Capcom Power System Changer, Windows, and the FM Towns Marty — a lesser-known console from Fujitsu. The game was well received by both critics and players, eventually getting an updated version (Muscle Bomber Duo: Ultimate Team Battle, 1993) and a direct sequel (Ring of Destruction: Slam Masters II, 1994).
If you’re into fighting games, arcade wrestling, or classic Capcom titles, this video is for you. If you enjoy it, don’t forget to share it with your retro brawler friends!
