Last Resort (1992) - Demo & quickplay

This video originally published in the Gaming Room‘s channel in April 18, 2025 features a demo and quickplay of Last Resort, a side-scrolling SNK‘s cyberpunk-themed shoot ’em up initially released in March 1992 to the arcades. Inspired by R-Type, the game puts you in command of advanced spaceships to face hordes of mechanical and organic enemies in urban settings and devastated landcapes.

It is set in the future, when a computer virus takes control of a space station, decimating the crew and turning its weapons against Earth. To contain this threat, combat ships are sent on a desperate mission to eliminate the rebel AI.

Last Resort features high-quality graphics and sound effects for its time; an indestructible pod system, used as an extra weapon or shield; intense gameplay with power-ups that increase firepower; and modes for one or two players. This SHMUP has been re-released on several platforms, including Switch, PlayStation 2, PSP, PS4, Wii, Windows and Xbox One, usually as part of collections.
