In this video from the Gaming Room channel, where it was originally published in November 26, 2025, we have a complete record of Andro Dunos, with its demos (attract mode), cutscenes, and a playthrough where I spent a ton of credits to finish this Visco Corporation‘s title. It is the 40th episode of Old Stuff, our video series dedicated to old games. Andro Dunos, in the other hand, is a side-scrolling sci-fi shoot ’em up was released in 1992, originally to the arcades, and puts players in control of the Yellow Cherry and Red Fox space combat ships in humanity’s last effort to defeat an invading alien force.
This shmup is challenging (though not unbearable) and visually resembles the classics, such as R-Type and Darius, but it brings its own concepts, such as system of different weapon configurations switchable by players (up to two simultaneously in co-op). There are power-ups that increase the power of your arsenal. If the main weapon’s level is two or higher, it’s possible to perform a powerful shot that deals significant damage to enemies by charging the fire button and releasing it at the desired moment. Each weapon has its own special shot. The game features seven stages filled with enemies of different patterns and a boss at the end of each one.
Overall, the game received mixed reviews from critics and unfairly went unnoticed, as it has quality and originality, although some parts are somewhat tedious. At the time, it only received a port for the SNK Neo-Geo AES home console in July 1992. It wasn’t until 2012 that an official version for Neo Geo CD was released, and in August 2022, its port was released to Dreamcast.
For my part, it was worth bringing this gameplay of Andro Dunos (I had to finish it twice because I forgot to record the first time), but I want to hear from you. Watch to relive (or discover) the game and comment, leaving your thoughts on it. Don’t forget to like the video, share the post with your retro gaming fan friends, subscribe to the channel for more old stuff and come back to this site often!
Cheers!
